Meanwhile, in Santa Monica, I was standing at a sushi bar still chatting with Harrison Ford. He and I had wrapped up our photo shoot when, being a team player, he turned to his lovely celebrity girlfriend, Calista Flockhart, and invited her to join the fun. “She has a book of pictures of her, taken by celebrities,” he explained. I peered around him and said, “If you’d take one too, that’d be great.”

His endorsement was a definite plus, but she looked totally annoyed. Or maybe she was just hungry. Hangry. In retrospect, it probably wouldn’t have been a bad idea to bring her an appetizer since my friend and I had brought him a drink.

She sighed and held out her hand for the camera. “Is it focused?” she asked. “Yeah, it’s easy, just press the button on the top,” I said. Mr. Ford was sitting between us, so he leaned back and covered the right side of his face to avoid being in the photo. She looked through the lens, clicked the button, and lowered the camera. Then it flashed. She huffed and rolled her eyes. She pulled the camera back to her face and for a second time, Harrison covered his cheek.

Trying to frame the shot, the dainty Calista instructed me to, “Move over. He’s in it.” She shoved his chest back, scooted her chair away from him, and snapped another picture. It was adorable to watch the delicate Ally McBeal push around our heroic Indiana Jones.

“Thank you so much,” I said as she handed my camera back. Harrison Ford thanked both my friend and me for the sake we brought him and we left. The end.

I thought.

Until I got the photos back from the developer.

When I looked through the envelope, I was surprised to find that Mr. Ford had given me a little gift. His mischievous eye peeking between his fingers and looking at the camera adds loads of fun to this story. Thank goodness for his playful spirit.

Thanks again, you two.
